He Sent Them Out Two By Two -A Christian is not called to "go it alone" in this life, no matter the circumstances. While sometimes we are tempted to just do it ourselves, in reality Jesus encourages us to invite others into our lives through faith and trust in God and with love. In today's Gospel we learn of the amazing things the apostles are able to do as they go out in pairs, trusting in the Lord to provide for their needs and for the needs of others through them. They are able to drive out demons and heal the sick, and they invite other to follow Jesus through their words and deeds. We are called to share in the mission of Christ and his Church today, yet we are not individually committed to this task. As members of the Body of Christ we work together to make Jesus present in the world. On Mission for The Church Alive! is an opportunity for us to grow in faith and friendship so that together we can form vibrant communities that share God's life with others. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

Father of mercy,

as we journey On Mission for the Church Alive! endow us with your gifts

of collaboration, courage and compassion.

Help us to fulfill the mission of Jesus and His Church

through vibrant parishes and effective ministries.

Raise us selfless, energetic leaders

To serve the Church in fidelity and with care.

May we, the Church of Pittsburgh

In Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene,

Lawrence and Washington counties,

be sustained and strengthened by your grace.

Help us to learn Jesus,

to love Jesus and to live Jesus.

Hear this prayer and grant it

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

with the help of our dear Blessed Mother,

under the mantle of her love.
