Baptismal Preparation Class

Baptismal Preparation Class will be held onMonday, August 21, 2017at 6:30 PM in the Meeting Room of Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church. There will be no class in July. Class is to be attended before arrangements can be made for Baptism. Pre-registration is required. For information, call 412-321-3186.

 

Flea Market/Thrift Store Donations

Our annual flea market/thrift store will be held onSaturday, September 30, 2017in Norbert Hall. Anyone wishing to donate usuable items should bring furnishings, toys, appliances, and other household goods to the vestibule in the back of both churches before or after weekend Masses. No clothing, books, exercise equipment, furniture, televisions or computers.

 

Vacation Bible School

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, children ages 4 through 11 are invited to attend the Vacation Bible School to be held at Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church Hall (Middle & Suismon Sts. - across from Max's Tavern)  July 17 through July 21 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.  Come and join in crafts, song, story, music, play and fellowship as "Children of the King".  Details and registration call 412-321-3186.

 

Announcing Our 10 for 10 Raffle

Holy Wisdom and Saint John XXIII Parishes will co-sponsor our 10 for 10 Raffle. For a donation of $10.00 per ticket, you have a chance at winning $10,000.00. Only 10,000 tickets are available. The winning raffle ticket will bear the same 4-digit number as the Big-4 Pennsylvania Lottery on the Monday before Christmas: Monday, December 18, 2017 at 7:00 PM. If winning ticket number is not sold, a winning number will be constructed digit by digit similar to the Pennsylvania Lottery drawing until a winning ticket has been selected. Tickets will soon be available in packets to sign out in the back of church. The success of this venture depends on the generosity of our parishioners who sell and purchase tickets.

 

Manifesting the Kingdom Award

The Diocese of Pittsburgh rejoices in so many good people who in their own way work to manifest the new life we have received in baptism. The Manifesting the Kingdom Award is given by the diocesan bishop for exceptional service to the Church.

Holy Wisdom Parish is pleased to announce thatJack Loebighas been chosen along with those from other parishes to receive this special award. Jack serves as a vital part of the parish in a variety of roles. As a lector during the celebration  of Mass, Jack proclaims the Word of God prayerfully and with conviction. As a former member of the Parish Finance Council, he offered his insight to help the parish consider the decisions necessary for its well-being and growth. Jack has cordinated our very successful annual Corvette Raffle for well over twenty years until his recent retirement. Jack has also served on the Festival Core Committee which planned our festival for the enjoyment and success of the parish and the community, as well as being active in many behind the scenes activities. 

The award will be presented by Bishop Zubik at a diocesan Mass onSunday, September 24, 2017at 2:30 PM at St. Paul Cathedral, Oakland. We congratulate Jack on this honor and wish him well in his continued service to the Church.

Quo Vadis Days will take place at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School, July 16-18. All men entering 10th, 11th, 12th grades and freshman year of college are welcome. Deacon Daniel Waruszewski to be Ordained a Priest

Praised to be Our Lord Jesus Christ! Deacon Daniel Waruszewski,the son of Daniel and Rose Waruszewski of Saint John XXIII Parish, will be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Pittsburgh onSaturday, June 24, 2017,at Saint Paul Cathedral by Bishop David A. Zubik. We are so blessed to have seen him in our presence and to have witnessed his growth toward the Holy Priesthood. He will be celebrating his First Mass at Saint Teresa of Avila Church in Perrysville onSunday, June 25, 2017at 3:00 PM with a light reception to follow. His parents graciously welcome you to attend his First mass and reception and to receive his First Priestly Blessing.

 

Reborn in Baptism

Congratulations and best wishes to Keagen Matthew Kenny, child of Patrick Kennyand Alisa Miller Kenny, and Jacinta Maria Schurdak, child ofStanley Schurdak and Bernadette Aul Schurdak, who were  baptized recently into the community of faith. May they continue to grow in wisdom, age, and grace.

 

2017 Parish Share Program Update

The annual Parish Share Program for 2017 continues.The importance of the Parish Share Program cannot be underestimated because it is critical both to the diocese and to the parish. The total goal for Holy Wisdom and Saint John  XXIII Parishes is $48,622.00. The goal for Holy Wisdom Parish is $28,173.00 of which $22,260.00 in cash and pledges has been received. The goal for Saint John XXIII Parish is $20,449.00 of which $24,031.00 has been received in cash and pledges.Remember that funds received over and above our support goal for the diocese will remain here in our parish.
